United States Postal Office
The United States Postal Service was established in July 1775 as a way to facilitate sending messages. In its beginning stages, the USPS originally was established to deliver communications between Congress and the armies, but has vastly changed and grown since its early origins. Over the centuries the USPS has expanded significantly and today is a full service facility that not only mails letters and packages, but offers a broad range of products and other services. The USPS is also an authorized agent where individuals can apply for U.S. passports. In the present day the USPS is currently expanding its services to include Internet options and other technologies to better meet the needs of a growing population.
